My Lack of Blogging

what a horrible day, well summer come to that!
So chilly here and gloomy and raining!

I wanted to post what's been going on with me of late.
My lack of blogging, enthusiasm and mojo has been for a reason.

We have an African Grey parrot, Charlie.
Steve [hubby] became allergic in 2006 and we were told to keep charlie in another room. So we do, he has not contact other than whistling and singing to him from afar! Basically Steve's allergy has got a little worse and we both went to the Dr fearing the inevitable.
Dr explained that Steve's allergy could worsen over the years, or worst scenario he could have contracted Psittacosis! Bloods were taken 3 weeks ago and Steve phoned and HE IS CLEAR! To say we are pleased is an understatement. We can also try a homeopathic option, so will possibly go down that route too now we know it;s nothing more serious!
I do have a place for him to be re-homed, but we have had him 13 years this year, he is such a big part of our daily life [as Scoopy will testify!] I'm completely heartbroken, thinking that we may have to do so. We are going to check with GP next week, get his opinion on what to do. Obviously Steve's health comes first, but, its so tough. He speaks so well, all in my voice! Joins in conversations, says things in the right place.
"Love you Gorge" "See ya later" "Bye" "Wanna bath" "C'mon Spurs" "No Gunners" "Wanna strawberry" to name but a few.

Fingers crossed we won't have to say goodbye to our beloved Charlie, but, at least half the worry that Steve's had this serious disease has gone!

Sorry if I've bored yo all to death, but, wanted to explain

mandi xx

Oh Mandi,

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation with poor Charlie. I do hope that your GP gives you some good news. Our pets mean so much to us, and they give us their unconditional love. Poor Steve, and you. I'm sorry for Steve, it must have been awful for him. But I am pleased to hear that he's got the all clear regarding the psittacosis. Good luck with everything, Mandi. I'll be thinking of you xx

Aww Mandi, I can only imagine how you feel about the posibility of giving up Charlie. He sounds like a real cutie.
Of course, you could always keep Charlie and get rid of Steve!! :-D

It must be a relief to know that Steve is clear and I hope that the GP can suggest some treatment.

Hi Mandi, was just checking in to see what I am missing at LIM while I am in Scotland, and was drawn to the pic of Charlie. I have an African Grey called Reggie and though we have had him only 4 years I would be devastated at the thought of having to part with him. He is with us in Scotland and is picking up the seagull cries a treat !!!!
So I hope things work out for you all
as I'm sure Charlie would miss you just as much as you will miss him
Hugs Lottie xx

Oh Mandi, my heart reaches out to you. Our pets are part of the family and you two are faced with a very difficult decision. Maybe it could be as simple as Steve finding the perfect allergy meds. My husband and I were both very allergic to cats and dogs growing up and as young adults. Our dogs were always large outside dogs. Since moving from Northern California to Arizona, where the weather in the summer is 113 to 118 F degrees, we have had to have indoor pets. We have actually built up our immunity system and don't get sick with them anymore...just a little sniffle now and then. Is it any bird feathers that bother Steve? I can't sleep with down comforters or feather pillows because I will have an asthma attack, but I can pet my friends bird without any problem. I wonder if bathing the bird would help at all? Sorry to go on and on, just thinking on paper. I hope the best for all 3 of you. hugs

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm
looking to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for
something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

I'm really enjoying the theme/design of your blog. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems? A handful of my blog audience have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera. Do you have any ideas to help fix this issue?
