Well a very good morning and a very happy new year to you all
We have had THE best week here, with my stepson Danny, Jess and our gorgeous grandson Joe. He is such a good boy too, hardly cries, so happy, always ready with a smile!
He has totally stolen my heart, which aches for him now that they have gone. It shows me how a Mother's love feels, something so precious huh!
However, I do like to get back to 'normal' and what better way than with a new challenge on "Less is More"
Colour week and
Predominently Purple
Not one of my favourite colours at all! I guess I could offer the advice of if you need to make something in a colour that doesn't sirt well with you, then make onein one that does and then replicalte it...If you have time of course!
My card base is Stampin Up (Contact me here )Rich Razzlebury, the stamping is Elegant Eggplant, as is the embossed lines rectangle. I also stamped the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant too. The twine is in a matching shade from Pretty Little Ribbon Shop
The stamps are a new purchase Personal Impressions, Marion Emberson designs which I got form QVC.
This other card, I made in a similar vein to this picture I amde my Mum for Christmas here
But I'm not completely happy with it in these colours, I'm not a purple person so not overly happy, ~I much prefer the picture in the ivory tone!
All supplies are Stampin Up Elegant Eggplant card base, Rich Razzlebury used for some butterflies, which are cut 'n' emboss ones.

Thanks a really good thought about trying to make a prototype for a card in a colour that you like and then translating it to the colour that's required... good thinking batman!
Your little man is simply adorable... a total cutie... lucky you!
Great cards too... as ever!
Chrissie
OMG. What stunning cards. I love purple but dont recall using it on cards much. Love the butterlies on the second card but my favourite is the simplicity of the first, such a lovely stamp, on very rich looking cardstock.
Love Sheila x
Two totally fab cards - welcome to 2012

Purple! That's one to get the brain cells going! Beautiful cards Mandi, they're nearly as gorgeous as your grandson! xx
Gorgeous cards Mandi, especially like the stamp in the first one. I like purple and use it quite a lot, blue is my bete noire.
The little bloke is adorable.
I love this color, it brings out the butterflies on the white!
Oh doesn't he just look so edible in that hat!!! What a proud grandma you are :)
Gorgeous inspiration cards too, love the dimensional flowers you added to the first design.

Mandi, they are both so pretty. I think the butterflies look great in the little frame. You can almost imagine them trying to fly away.

Pretty cards...so fun to have a change from all the "hoopla" of the holidays.....darling grandson, too :>)
Making the card in a colour you like first is a genius idea! Next time you do reds/oranges I'm making it in green first!!!!
I love the second card with all the butterflies - but then I love purple! Off to have a play in a minute.
Happy New Year.

Two gorgeous cards, the birthday card is my favorite, the two sizes of the 'sprig' and the little flower heads are just super. Purple is not my fav colour either but I know a lot of people who do like it so use it often.
Love the photo of your grandson, he is adorable.

I wish I had read your advice before attempting my card. I think just hearing the word purple freezes my brain to ideas. lol Love the Razzleberry color though-it is rich and gorgeous. Fantastic cards!

Beautiful cards. I love the color of the card base on your second card, and the butterflies are lovely. Happy New Year! :) Ann Y.
Purple is definitely NOT my favorite color to work with, but I managed to put a few cards together. Your creations are just beautiful as always!
Wow, Mandi, this really IS quite a challenge...PURPLE?! However, your two cards are quite inspiring, as is your advice to try it first in a color you are more comfortable with.
They're beautiful cards and I especially like the butterflies with the rhinestone trail coming out of the frame. You're either drawn to a colour or not I think - I used to loath purple but have found myself liking it more in the last few years! Glad to hear you've had a good break and that you're enjoying your lovely grandson! Wishing you all good things for 2012, Vicky x
Loving these creations Mandi......very pretty.
Happy New Year
