"Less is More" Week 52

A very good mornign to you all

Well, we don't have the snow they are threatening...yet! Oh I do hope we don't as we have my Stepson's wedding to go to on the mainland 23rd February, dread to think what we'd do if we can't get across!

I've been busy with my wedding orders, am off today to the shop I design for as I have three appointments for new business. Loads in my book about to start too. Exciting stuff!

Onto "Less is More" this week it's Sketch

We are going to be strict this time and say we want the sketch used as is, not rotated.

As you can see I made a boo boo and put the sentiment in the wrong place...DON'T do as I do!!!

As England are on the brink of snow, I thought I'd remind us Spring is around the corner!!

For my card I used some ribbed kraft crd [but turned that inwards] I made a 'DL' [doube length card from a sheet of A4. I stamped the beautiful branch from the Stampin up set 'Easter Blossoms' in Soft Suede, as i thoguht that toned in well with the kraft. The blue 'sky' is Bashful Blue, also Stampin Up. the little dabs of pink on the blosson are with a pink watercolour pencil. I added the little blossoms as we constantly see them lying in our garden in Spring.

Another DL card. I stamped polka dots and stripes from Stampin Up, then punched 1" circles from them and from 3 colourss, added my obligatory gem! The FAB sentiment is Hobby Art.

"Less is More" Week 51

Good morning, is it Saturday already!

We had another busy week last week with lots of submissions. Even though it means a lot of work for Chrissie and I we do love to see the entries in their hundreds!

Theme week on "Less is More" and we have chosen

"Cut it out"

By that we really mean we want to see an aperture/hole in your card!

As I still have my wedding head on I kept to that for my design this week.

I made a 6x6" card from white hammer card, then cut an aperture from the centre of the front flap, with a heart die. This particular die is Nellie Snellen Multi Frames Dies Hearts. I used the very plain die from this fab set. I printed Wedding day in Scriptina font which I'd previously printed onto ivory paper from a wonderful set by Pink Petticoat Vintage Rose I used the big roses background in Blossom for one and Ocean for the other. As the paper is ivory I punched daisies from ivory card in 2 sizes. Placing them, I did the top and bottom first, so that I kept the shape and put pearls in the centres to finish.

I am attending the first of the year's wedding fares on Sunday, so have been frantically prepping for that. It's exciting times as it;s the first for the shop I design for. Will let you know how it goes and post some piccies.

"Less is More" Week 50

Can you believe it's week 50 already! We are almost at our year anniversary...WOW!

Last week was really busy, both with "Less is More" and my wedding business.

I now sub-contract for a shop and I am picking up more and more work. Love it, but, there arent enough hours in the day!

Onto this week at "Less is More" It is One Layer and our chosen challenge this time is

BIRDS

I don't have too many bird stamps, but, I do have my FAB Stampin Up Aviary set,

I love it's quirkiness! It is such a fun set.

The sentiment is from a retired set as is the Pink colour. The other 2 colours are Pear Pizazz and Black. The branch is from another set called Hopeful Thoughts. I used the markers to ink the stamp, so I could colour the stem in black, the leaves green and the flowers pink. I chose to add a little interest with the punched flower heads and a few little trails of liquid pearls.

Lots of white space!

You will see from the little close u below I drew a little line, as if a perch for the birdie to sit on. I really didnt eant him sat on the bottom, just near the bottom, so didn;t want it to look as if I'd mis-aligned him!

Even more white space on this one! Hopefully you can see it, taking the photo was pants!

The birgs are stamped in Tempting Turquiose, Pink Passion [retired] and Rich Razzlebury.

I also did this one, but, again I don't know what it is with my photograhs this week!

"Less is More" Week 49

Well a very good morning and a very happy new year to you all

We have had THE best week here, with my stepson Danny, Jess and our gorgeous grandson Joe. He is such a good boy too, hardly cries, so happy, always ready with a smile!

He has totally stolen my heart, which aches for him now that they have gone. It shows me how a Mother's love feels, something so precious huh!

However, I do like to get back to 'normal' and what better way than with a new challenge on "Less is More"

Colour week and

Predominently Purple

Not one of my favourite colours at all! I guess I could offer the advice of if you need to make something in a colour that doesn't sirt well with you, then make onein one that does and then replicalte it...If you have time of course!

My card base is Stampin Up (Contact me here )Rich Razzlebury, the stamping is Elegant Eggplant, as is the embossed lines rectangle. I also stamped the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant too. The twine is in a matching shade from Pretty Little Ribbon Shop

The stamps are a new purchase Personal Impressions, Marion Emberson designs which I got form QVC.

This other card, I made in a similar vein to this picture I amde my Mum for Christmas here

But I'm not completely happy with it in these colours, I'm not a purple person so not overly happy, ~I much prefer the picture in the ivory tone!

All supplies are Stampin Up Elegant Eggplant card base, Rich Razzlebury used for some butterflies, which are cut 'n' emboss ones.

Had posted this on "Less is More" what a good start to 2012 lol

Happy new year everyone, hope you all had a good one. whether you celebrated or just stayed home.

Isn't i t hard to get back i the swing! I found it a striggle to get this card made lol

We have our beautiful Grandson Joey here, Jess and Danny [Mummy & Daddy] too, until Thursday evening.

Precious times.

Never having given birth myself, those smiles from little Joey now melt my heart!

We are on baby sitting dutes today as Danny & Jess are off shopping and cinema.

I made this card for a friend of mine to give her Mum

The paper is from Create with TLC these are Sumer Tea, they are gorgeous, the colour palette is stunning. I've glittered n places, not sure if it shows up or not.

The flowers are Marianne and the leaves Crealies I got from Joanna Sheen,

who always give a second to non serivce!

Fonts used are Post it Note and Honey Script

It fits the chalenge over on Pile it on #Anything Goes [I think]

"Less is More" Week 47

Good morning

So here we are one sleep away from the big day! Well it is for us in England, some of you are even closer than one sleep! I'm there, apart from the usual housework, that has taken second place of late.

Goodness knows where those fairies are lol

We are out to lunch Christmas day, then friends coming back to our house for the evening. Boxing day is spent with the same friends at our local Conservative Club. I must say I am thoroughly looking forward to the break. This season is SO busy for us isn't it!

Whatever you are doing, may I wish you all a fabulous time and also tkae the opportunity to thank you for all your support of "Less is More" and for your continued visits to my personal blog.

Our challenge this week is

Just One Word

This challenge runs for 2 weeks

For my card i used a FAB set from Close to my Heart Over the Rainbow. I love the quirkiness of it!

Colours used are Stampin Up Bashful Blue, Pear Pizazz and Regal Rose.

I stamped the segmenta, then placed by using 3d foam. Once I figured out where I wanted to rainbow to go I stamped the 'Somwhere' When I was planning it I did picture it to go off the page, but, as you can see that didn't happen!

To finish I used glossy accents on the rainbow.

Crazy 4 Challenges It's Santa

My second card is, as Chrissie has done a variation on a previous design. I tend to do this, if it works, it works, so I alter slightly knowing it will be a lot less faffing for it to look right!

The letters are Sizzix Fun Serif Upper and Lowercase, sadly discontinued now, but, there are some sets around on ebay. the stamps are Hobby Art. Coloured with Promarkers and then glittered with Glamour Dust, as are the letters.

Hello everyone

Are we ready yet?

It's big fat no from me, but, only housework stuff, rather than food shopping, present buying, or wrapping. We are out to lunch Christmas day and Boxing day, so dont; need 'dinner' things, which is a real treat! We went to Marksies yesterday and it was SO quiet, just couldn't believe it!

Felt very weird. I guess today and tomorrow will make up for it!

OK, so I am posting a couple of cards, same design as I've done before but varied slightly

Something Different

Mum saw this beautiful butterfly frame in Laura Ashley and really liked it.

It was pre-sale when she saw it.

Well I instantly thought, I can make that!! lol

Here my take on it.....
You will see the original has a subtle pattern and the butterflies are matching..beautiful!

The recessed box frame is about 16x16, then there is an ivory mount, the 12x12 I need to stick finally, but. was trying to see how it looked.

I made it to match the colour scheme in her room, black, ivory and taupe tones.

the background striped paper is retired 12x12 paper from Stampin Up. they are gorgeous papers, such a shame they are retired. The butterflies are cut from the same range of paper, but in a flourish pattern.

I placed the largest butterflies, precisely, but, the rest are random! Oh and there are some pearl flourishes, using liquid pearls and 3 Sizzix Swirls too. To finish I added pearls and gems to the bodies of come of the butterflies.

It's really pearly IRL. I may try to photograph again, but am scheduling this as today I am over on the mainland visiting Steve's Nan and then off to Danny, Jess and our little Grandson Joe.

Isn;t the post horrendous this time of year. Not criticising the staff, I guess there is just so much to deliver! I have 7 separate parcels I;'m waiting for. Most for Mum, so as she is on her own in the house today she has strict instructions NOT to open or fiddle with anything lol

Baby's First Christmas

An ex client of mine had a very premature little baby boy, Stanley. He wasnt; due until 29th DEcember and has been quite poorly, but, as of last week he is home and weighs just over 4lbs...aww bless him.

So a VERY special Christmas for Stanley and his Mummy and Daddy

"Less is More" Week 46

Over on "Less is More" this week, being the third of the month it's THEME week

We have chosen

MUSIC

Chrissie and I get together and set these challenges, months in advance. WE then try to get ahead and have our samples ready. Well with the silly season under way and lots of time taken commenting to our lovely LIMettes, the forward making has gone by the way side somewhat. Hence, at the last minute I realised I have NOTHING, NADA, ZILTCH in the way of music stamps! Good one Mandi lol

So this is my feeble effort. OK I love white on white and the simplicity pleases me, but, lets face it my dog probably could have done something a bit more exciting!

"Less is More" Week 45

Week 45 already over at our "Less is More" and yes, second week of the month equals ONE LAYER over at our "Less is More"

Well that doesn't fill any of you with dread now right?
We have chosen
Let it Snow

Photographing this was a nightmare! I ended up trying the mirror as the reflection seemed to show the gold embossed snowflake better than without it!

I do love snowflakes, they are so light and delicate, hence why I decided to use black lol

Supplies. Inkadinkdo stamps, stamped with Versafine Black Onyx, some are inked and stamped directly, then others are inked, stamped onto paper, then onto the card, for a lighter shade, adding dimension. I glittered the black snowflakes with a zig glue pen, then added the obligatory gems and a swirl of liquid pearls. Maybe you can see better in the close up photo.

It really is so sparkly, but, you will have to take my word for that!

Good morning from a blustery damp Shanklin!

It's already the 3rd of December and I've not got an advent calendar lol

Over on our

it's the first of the month and Colour

this time we have chosen

GREEN

I firstly stamped the Hero Arts branch from 'Magic of Christmas' set Then stamped a bauble from an Elusive set from 2007. I've had it that long and never stamped it.....shameful!I coloured with Stampin' Up pens and one Marvy le Plume pen, then glittered, to within an inch of it's life lol and added a couple of gems.

Penny Black Pine Silhouette stamp, stamped with Forest Green Stazon

Few pearls, gems and punched snowflakes to finish. The sentiment is Stampin Up set Seasons of Joy. I hang pearl strands, snowflakes on my tree, which is where I got my inspiration.

I'd made this and..l.lost it! lol

One layer Challenge

Over on One Layer Challenge this week the spec is:

OLW72

This week's OLW expands on my strategy for making lots of Christmas cards fast without mass producing. There are three requirements in addition to the use of a single layer of card stock:

1) use ONLY a sentiment stamp on your card...no other stamps or embellishments allowed!

2) use a NON-STANDARD size for your card

3) make at least two cards using the same stamp that vary something (color, type of ink, technique, placement of the stamp, size of card)

OH Boy!!!

Here are mine. Forgive the highly reflective photo, but, I did want to capture the mirror card!

There are endless possibilities for this challenge, great fun!

The cards are small, just 9.5cm square [Just under 4"]

I do llike small cards, although I tednd not to make them too much!

It's Saturday and week 43 over on our "Less is More"

It's theme week and we have chosen

A Bit of Bling

Entering into Quirky Challenge - Clean & Simple

This tree is a new aquisition, Penny Black Slapstick 'Twinkling Tree' I absolutely love it. You can go mad or colour it subtly. Obviously me being me opted for the first option!
I printed the sentiment on the computer in a turquoise in 'LD Shelley Print' font. i stamped using Versafine, Imperial Purple. I tried all different inks and because of the solid trunk only Versafine worked by far the best. The gems are a lovely turquoise, green and hot pink. I then filled the rest of the spots with opal White ~Liquid Pearls and Diamond Stickles. to finish off I dusted with Glamour Dust. It really is VERY sparkly!

We have a poll running this week and hope you will all give us your opinion.

I'm still knee deep in card making.

I'm also just in the throes of sub-contracting to a shop on the island with my wedding stationery. Exciting, yet very busy times

Christmas Card Challenge

Oh boy I'm so overloaded with work at the moment.

Aren't we all I hear you say!

I had a bit of a slow start my brain justy would not work. But, managed to think of a few designs to knock out for my customer orders!

I have to do lots of A5 cards for my clients, quite a lot of space to fill, which can be off putting.

I tend to narrow down the space a lot and work within that area. yoiu can always whack a wirl or something to tie in the 2 areaas.

anywa here is one of my designs for this year. One down, 29 to go for this particualr one.

The paper is Pink Petticoat. I quite like it being 'non- Christmassy'

the stamp is Art Impressions and I got mine for Sir Stampalot

What EXCELLENT sevice, orered yesterday, arrived todayl. Just how I like it!

The sentiment is computer generated and 'Honey Script' I matched the font colour to the gold in the paper strip.

the stamp is just stamped in Stampin Up Cherry Cobler, isn't it a lovely shade of deep red! Then a little glitter and a few pearls to finish.

I did glitter around the edge of the centre panel suing a zig marker. Its so easy and so effective, specially for Christmas.

"Less is More" Week 42

Good morning everyone

Well it's Saturday, it's 8 o'clock and it's a new challenge on our "Less is More"

I always think of It's Friday....It;'s 5 o'clock....It's Crackerjack lol

Apologies to foreign visitors or young ones, come to that

as you will have no idea what I'm talk about lol

Our theme week we have chosen

Silhouettes

Here's what I have come up with

For my first card I used a digi image form Stitchy Bear I saw it on one of our LIMettes blogs, Caro a while ago and had to have it Isn't it just adorable!
I dragged the digi onto a blank document, then added the sentiment to fit onto the right hand space. I used the tetx box method, we have expalined in the past. The font is Fontasia V2 here
I went over the 'Magical' with a zig glue pen and sprinkled with Glamour Dust for a sparkly effect. I also added gltter to the fairy wings. he top has a panel of swiss dots and a cute little fairy castle charm tied onto the ribbon.

For this silhouette I stamped a silhouette style stamp from Stampin Up, Ornate Flowers, in black onto Melon Mambo card stock. I lined up the small stamp by eye as there were only 3 of them and the set I have is a cling which you attach onto a acrylic block, making for easy lined up design. I trimmed one edge with a scallop edge punch, also Stampin Up and then attached to a black card base. It is an A6.....Approx 15cm x 10.5cm. The gems are in an orange shade, from Doodlebug.

"Less is More" Week 38

Good morning on this very chilly one in Shanklin!

So dislike these cold, often went dark mornings.

However, this time next week I will soon be off on my cruise. Next Sunday 30th to be exact! Officially on countdown now!

We are off on the QM2 down to the Canaries, stopping off in Madeira on the way and Lisbon and Vigo on the return home. Back 10th November.

Mum's friend is house sitting, looking after Belle and Charlie, that will be fun for her ha ha

Whilst we are away it is our wedding anniversary 31st October, yes Halloween and then my birthday is the 2nd November. Tomorrow I'm at a Wedding fare and it would have been my lovely Dad's birthday, he'd have been 82, bless him.

Hello

What a glorious day it is here, well it looks like it from inside my craft room lol

Still hard at it, but, can see a light at the end of the tunnel now!

I had to make a large 8x8 [not my favourite] card

Pastels and bling spec!

I'm not a fan of large cards, but once you throw a few pieces of paper on the space seems smaller!

Papers are all Pink Petticoat I love the mix of patterns. I matched the 'Ashleigh' by dragging the Pistachio paper into Paint and using the dropper, click it on the colour you want to match,. Select Colors, Edit Colors, Define custom Colors....it then reveals the matching Red/Green/Blue mix you need to give that perfect match.

Liz has just put some FAB Christmas sentiments and papers on. Do have a look!

"Less is More" Week 36

Good morning

Bit gloomy here this morning, think our Indian summer has gone!

Sorry I've been so AWOL, but I have a large day stationery wedding order to complete by next weekend, that's without other card orders and us girlies' unpaid jobs LOL

OK so enough of all that

Our challenge over on "Less is More"
this week is ONE LAYER and

For my card I folded a piece of A4 paper and hand drew half a heart, which I cut out. Opening the paper to reveal a full heart, I placed it over the folded 6x6 card and secured with some sticky bits from a Post it note. Using a few retired SU stamps and an Anita's daisy stamp I randomly stamped within the heart aperture.
Using these SU colours
Basic Black, [new]Pool Party, [new] Calypso Coral and Melon Mambo.
The little black gems were added to finish.

"Less is More" Week 35

Good morning eveyrone

What fantastic weather we are having!

Over on Less is more this week it's the first of the month and Colour Week

We have chosen

Colour of your Eyes

This fabulous motif stamp is Viva Decor, Baroque Set. I'd never heard of this set until our lovely LIMette Viv used it here.

I LOVE it! [I got mine on good ol' eBay]

I used this shape as I felt it replicated the shape of the eye. As the stamp is clear one and doesn't take dye ink overly well. I stamped with a couple of Versamark ink pads first [They are pigment inks, with softer pads and I find adhere to clear stamps better] Sage and Bamboo, then inked with Stampin up Pear Pizazz to finish. It gives for a slightly mottled effect.

The sentiment, I printed first from the computer in Young Love font. I played around for ages on placement. So have scraps of this design everywhere! Of course, my obligatory bling in the centre! Oh to have eyes the colour of the gem!

"Less is More" Week 34

Wel what a week we had on "Less is More" with 782 entries

We are so grateful to our faithful, talented LIMettes.

Have to say the commenting was pretty tough, but, we couldn't let you down by not stopping by, we viewed each and every card!

OK, so a new week and it's Sketch or Recipe

We chose Sketch this time

As the sentiment is printed on the computer I needed to do this on an A4 sheet first. I worked out the position using a scrap sheet. The font is Champignon. This is a 6" [15cm] square card. The square panel is about 8cm square. Once the sentiment was printed, it was scored using a score board, folded in half lengthways and 6cm was trimmed off, making a 15cm square card base.

I cut the square and stamped the Anita's daisy flower randomly in Stampin Up Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive. I joined the daisies with lines and leaves by hand using a Stampin Up black marker. Finally I added the 6mm black gems to the centres of the 3 whole daisies. The panel is mounted on 3D foam.

I quite liked this simple card, so just amde another in different colours. The font is Red Star

Entering onto Alphabet Challenge Q is for Quick [and simple]

I had a bit of a lesson from Chrissie, as to how to do inked backgrounds! [She is SO FAB at it, as you know]. Taking a sheet of smooth white cardstock roughly measuring 7cm square, I inked the background. [There was no need to mask an area as I was trimming to size later] Whilst this isn't perfect I thought it was 'OK' I used Stampin' Up ink pads Rich Razzlebury, Melon Mambo and Peach Parfait and made the effect using SU daubers. The process of the sentiment placement was easy as it's the same as above! This time the font is Dear Joe 1 M&S. I stamped the Hero Arts Palm Tree onto the left hand side of the panel. To finish I stamped over the square with Versamark and heat embossed it with clear powder. The panel is mounted on 3D foam.

Good morning from a rather dull Shanklin

I'v had such a lovley week, albeit a bit hectic now and then, Our little baby Joe is a litltle dream!

I worried I wou;dn;t 'feel it' being a Step-Nanny oh how wrong could I be!He smiles at his Nanny and my heart melts. Poor little poppet is teething though, aww 2 months old tomorrow, so early huh!

The paper is Pink Pettocoat printed onto ivory paper, its the Duck Egg Blue, a beautiful shade. Inside are the wedding details and a pocket for the RSVP, map and order of the day.

Last day for our visitors today, so back to some kind of normality tomorrow, albeit sad that they have gone!

Good morning everyone

There is an air of exctiment in our household as last night our Danny, Jess, Jess's Dad, Paul and most importantly bab Joe arrived. They are staying for a week. He is such a little poppet!

He now weighs 10lbs 7ozs He was 6lbs 8ozs brand new :) 21st June Bless him

Loads of cuddles are on the agenda as you can imagine.

I'm still suffering with my tooth. I'm almost at the end of my tether to be honest.

I'm on my 5th day of Penicillin and it's made no difference.

Dentist rang me today to see how it is! He has booked me in for 12.30 Monday

Dreading what he will have to do. I say the root canal is over filled as I can feel it right up to my nostril.

The pain when I touch just under my nose is excruciating!! Hey ho, onwards and upwards

far more worse off than me

Good morning

I was de to go to optician for 9oc today, but, I have to take Belle to the vet instead, she has a cut on her 'knee' About inch long but deep as far as I can tell, Kind opens a bit as I try to look, bless her.

She does NOT like that! Our vet only there 9-10 and my extra eye test was 9, but, me Belle is more important!

*** Update....
Bell is ok, shaved and stapled, poor little poppet. She was very brave! Vet had to lay on his back on the floor to get to it, neither were overly impressed ha ha ***

I have Astigmatism and Corneitis Nothing too serious, rugby ball shaped eyes rather than round and then the cornea [the clear covering of the eye] is too thin, so they check it with a special camera every year. Does mean I have rubbish vision particularly in right eye.

Much better day today, weather wise, we've even had sun for most of the day!

Really quick post from me, been out shopping unexpectedly this afternoon and now have to run around like a blue-arsed fly!

Was asked to make this card for a friend to give his girlfriend

She's a bit of a classy chic, so I think she will like it

My Lack of Blogging

Hello

what a horrible day, well summer come to that!

So chilly here and gloomy and raining!

I wanted to post what's been going on with me of late.

My lack of blogging, enthusiasm and mojo has been for a reason.

We have an African Grey parrot, Charlie.
Steve [hubby] became allergic in 2006 and we were told to keep charlie in another room. So we do, he has not contact other than whistling and singing to him from afar! Basically Steve's allergy has got a little worse and we both went to the Dr fearing the inevitable.

Dr explained that Steve's allergy could worsen over the years, or worst scenario he could have contracted Psittacosis! Bloods were taken 3 weeks ago and Steve phoned and HE IS CLEAR! To say we are pleased is an understatement. We can also try a homeopathic option, so will possibly go down that route too now we know it;s nothing more serious!

I do have a place for him to be re-homed, but we have had him 13 years this year, he is such a big part of our daily life [as Scoopy will testify!] I'm completely heartbroken, thinking that we may have to do so. We are going to check with GP next week, get his opinion on what to do. Obviously Steve's health comes first, but, its so tough. He speaks so well, all in my voice! Joins in conversations, says things in the right place.

Fingers crossed we won't have to say goodbye to our beloved Charlie, but, at least half the worry that Steve's had this serious disease has gone!

I just cut out a couple of the wisteria from the paper, it;s K&Co juliana, no longer made I don;t think. I love this paper! The font is Avalon.

It;s another big weekend on the island as it;s the round the island yacht race today, then tonight is the procession to begin the Island Games, for a week

Hello everyone

Hope you've all had a good day, Friday's are great as they are nearly the weekend,

specially this being BH eh!

i made the card for a new challenge, for me

Let's Ink it Up

Their challenge this week is that the sentiment is the focal point and there are flowers

hopefully mine fits the bill

I used kraft for my base card. The first thing I did was to make the scribbled border. I punched the diamond shape from a scrap piece of card and then following one of the lines on the kraft i scribbled my way along! If you don't have lines on the card a feint pencil line works just as well. I just sued a black biro for this, as I found a felt type made the colouring a bit solid for what I wanted.

The flower daisies, green leaves and embossing folder are all Stampin Up

Less is More Week 14

Hi everyone
What abusy week I've had! Steve is away, so the plan was Mum and I would have a bit of a chill..ha ha
I decided to decorate the porch, stupid porch, has taken ages! Just the painting to do now. Did have a FAB day Wednesday as my lovely Chrissie came over for the day. We had a fantastic day [well I certainly did] nice lunch in the village and a mooch. Chrissie did her bit for IOW tourism, so on behalf of the island 'Thank you Chirssie' hehe
We decided on the challenges for the rest of the year...there are some crackers LOL
OK, we are onto week 14 on Less is More our challenge this week is

Morning everyone

Well I've throughly enjoyed carrying the torch for Amberink.

Our flaming pink torch is being carried high and proud by the simply enchanting, Mandi Moore.
Mandi is simply hilarious, simply talented, simply a vision of motivating force ;) Mandi likes things clean and well... simple. The tea mugs in her Isle of Wight home all face the same direction and her favorite foods, chips (fries to us Americans) and chocolate are appreciated one at a time but never together. Growing up Mandi dreamed of being a maid! Can we say that she was destined to be a queen of clean? As one of the two driving forces behind the simply brilliant, brand new, A-listed, top-rated, incredible 'Less is More' challenge blog, Mandi (with friend Chrissie) has her finger on the pulse of what is simply classy. Oh what a beautiful day here in sunny Shanklin

I've had a nightmare though!Un-planned had to take hubby somewhere this morning so wasted a precious hour on... nothing!! Had some invitations to make, so once I was back on schedule I showed them to my lovely friend Chrissie. Eagle-eyed as ever she spotted a typo....OMG she is my hero!!

So disaster avoided and almost done!

Here is my challenge card for Totally Gorjuss this week

it;s No Patterned Paper well i sure haven't, considering I haven't much else either LOL

I printed the Princess on acetate and created a wrap over a plain white A6 tent style card

The Crown is a Cuttlebug cut and emboss i got in a sale from

Cutting Edge Crafts Isn't it LUSH The word is lined up better than it looks, the acetate is a little static and has gripped a little high, its ok in real life

Hello everyone what a beautifully sunny Sunday!

Im feeling so sorry for myself as I have raging toothache

One of my front crowns has been giving me gyp and this afternoon is RAGING!!

Know where i will be off to tomorrow

I've had a terrible ulcer all week, so I'm fed up with my mouth now LOL

OK so onto my card

this is for the fabulous new challenge blog started by Tara and it;s in aid of a hospice

There is some super inspo from the fabby girls that are the DT so hope you will pay it a visit and better still take part

I've used StampIn Up new embossing folder Manhattan Flower, which I ran through my Big Shot and then trimmed to the width I wanted and cut around the edges. The 'love is a retired set Wonderful Words, stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The bottom left is a piece of cherry cobbler card to balance the red of the sentiment.

i have used this kinda style before for an invitation, I may adapt it again.

im sendng this to my cousin for their Ruby Anniversary, she doesn't like frills n spills so she should like it!

Less is More Week 10

Hello and a very good morning on this

Week 10 YIKES for Less is More

where have those weeks gone? I know they have been the most incredible fun,,,,thank you to all participants and followers....hoping someone of the other followers will join in one day

OK so our challenge is our regular One Layer Card

and this time we have chosen

Sentiment Only

Oh boy I struggled! I was having a bit of a 'moment' could not get my brain into thinking what to do. so stupid, but I had a crafters block!

I wrote to my buddy Chrissie in a panic

She says, well its just making the sentiment the focal point and then I heard those immortal words

"You can still have your bling"

Sorted!! lol

Right so I don't have many 'wordy' stamps so I'm afraid I've used the computer
again to generate my card. I used the Young Love font here

I used text boxes for exact placement. The 'M' of Marriage is quite a bit larger than 'arriage' to create a focal point. Try it if you use this method! I then set the 'M' to outline and glittered with my Quickie glue pen.

'is everlasting' I wanted completely plain and used Century Gothic

'Love' again is young Love which I placed low enough to make the heart. To get the shape exact I cut my Sizzix Hearts and used the cut out bit as a template. Punched the tiny daisies and stuck in the heart shape. I placed the centre one first and gradually added one side then the other for exactly matching sides. Luckily they reached the bottom one together...skill ha ha

This alternative was my first attempt, I think the pearls look a bit wrong somehow, but thought I'd show you anyway! As you can see my one Layer is still just that, with a few additions, probably bordering on too many!

What a beautiful day it is here on this Mother's Day

I've been out with my Mum this morning to Marksies for our lunch and to order a new cooker!

Hubby is on the mainland at his Sons So it's just Mum n Daughter day today :)

OK waffle over, onto my card!

the digi is from the talented Amberink called Wee Bee

It's so cute, unusual for me to make this kinda card, so it was good to be challenged

All pretty self explanatory I think!
I made the striped heart from strips of black and yellow card, stuck them onto a piece of white, then die cut the heart once dry

Gosh, we are already on week 9, how time flies when you;re having fun!

Last week was our biggest week, we had 277 entries, how amazing is that!

OK so our chalenge this week is

This stamp is by Stamp It 'Audrey' Ive ahd her for years and I love her! When we decided on the theme I instantly knew what I wanted to do as /I like to colour her shoes in red!

Card Details:

I am so boring as I've used the Scriptina font again, but, for me, nothing works better with this stamp

Stamp-It 'Audrey'

The other font is a standard plain one called Century Gothic

I stamped Audrey and 'coloured' with Promarkers, Satin for the skin and Poppy for the shoes

Mounted one on red and one on black and added my rhinestone spacer.

I didn't have a large enough red gem so I cut a black circle of card, stuck in the base of the spacer, then stuck the smaller red gem to that!

My cards are 'DL' - Double Length' as last week 8" tall x 4" wide

for my entry I've used these adorable gerberas form Amberink

There are various sheets of the flowers to choose form...or like me you get them all! Aren't the colours yummy..so vibrant!

These are from a sheet of the individual heads, I cropped to print out a whole A4 sheet to then cut out.

They do have cute little smiley faces in the centres, which would have worked well for my Get well soon, but, me being me I had to add gems!

Ok so here we go

Im entering this card on the Get Sketchy #80 challenge

Whist Im on my Torch Bearing duties for Amberink we make cards for certain challenges. this is because the super generous Amber and Pam are sponsoring Get Sketchy

If you haven't been over to Amberink before, you need to!

There are some fabby designs and so versatile

As you can see on my little card, I've only used one digi paper

Spin Pin [hot pink] and the flower head from the 'Wee Bee' range

I resized the flower on a Word Document then printed it onto the already printed out digi paper

Easy peasy, but, I love oversized flowers!

"Less is More" Week 8

Morning everyone

Well we had another bumper week last week, over 200 entreies again!

This week on "Less is More" we have a sketch for you to follow

This is what I did

Recipe:
Stampin Up Growing Green
papers
Pink Petticoat

Here's the tut I did for colour matching the digi papers:

My little tut for this week is about matching a computer generated font to the colour in digi papers [or any scanned image in your computer files]

All digi papers are made up of a Red, Green and Blue colour palette,

so we need to determine what combination they are made of.

I do this using Paint as it's normally built into your computer.

On the start menu type Paint in the search box and open the program.

Then go to File 'top left hand side' A box appears select Open

From here you need to tell it where your particular paper is stored. Once you locate it,

click Open and that paper will appear in the paint window

On the left hand side are 'tools' Select the little icon that looks like a pipette [3rd down on mine]

Click it onto the colour you want to match

Click Colors

Then Edit Colors [from a pop up box]

A box appears and click Define Custom Colors

There on the bottom right you will see, for instance

Red 231

Green 18

Blue 97

Make a note of these and you then change your font colour using these numbers

"Less is More" Week 7

Hi everyone

I know I say it every week, but, Chrissie and I are continually blown away by the amount of entries we are getting. Never in our wildest dreams did we ever imagine such support. Waht's great also is everyone is enjoying making CAS cards, so that's just FAB

So our theme this week is

A MASCULINE card
here

I wanted to create cards with no stamping and pretty much no theme. I've so often been asked for a card for a man that has no interest in sport, or any hobbies etc. So for me some texture goes a long way. I originally wasn't going to put the Fleur de Lis, but, found it whilst rummaging for my embossing folders. You could easily recreate this design with just the strips of card and maybe a bigger sentiment.
Recipe: 15cm square card [A4 folded in half, then I trim off 6cm from one side]
The bottom black strip is just over 15cm x 1cm wide
The copper is 15cm x 0.5cm
The next black Swiss Dots strip is 12cm x 1.5cm
The Fleur di Lis mirri strip is 10cm x 2.5cm
There is a great little community going on, such fabby people, so do join in

DT card for Creative Cottage

Over on The Creative Cottage the challenge this week chose by our lovely,

is appropriately

Spring has Sprung

We are sponsored as ever by Tracy herself, owner of the shop

There are some super digi images and papers to choose form and so versatile

I'm not a 'cutesy' person but I've made no end of cards with her kits.

Mostly just by using the papers, they are so yummy!

OK so here is it, using the Cherry Accessory Kit [papers also available]

2 pics as Im showing you how I took the pearls over the spine of the card for a bit of interest

The branch is cut with my Cricut
I did draw one, about 5 times but was Mrs fussy knickers and threw them LOL One of those things, was quite easy, hardly showed, but!!

Just a hint of pink on our project

Well unusually for me here is a card without much pink Shock horror lol

Had to make it pretty quick today, hence the ready made handbags

The card is 8"x8"
